College Dream Team inspires hope in low-income students to plan for, pursue and achieve their college goals. We educate, mentor and provide comprehensive college admission guidance to these students. The College Dream Team Program supports the research that young people can overcome poverty with education.
Our mission includes empowering students by teaching self-reliance, college and career goal-setting skills, healthy living strategies, and resource-building tools.

“When my mother grew seriously ill, she moved to another town, but I stayed to finish school. Living with relatives who often quarreled made me depressed, so I stopped pushing myself to get my homework done. My college dream was fading until I began to regularly attend College Dream Team workshops and individual conferences to get back on track. College Dream Team reached out to me and helped to keep me focused. I also became motivated to reach out to others in my community who are disadvantaged. My volunteer club raises money for girls in Kenya. I would like to continue to raise public awareness to protect the environment and disadvantaged people as a career.” Katya is studying psychology, environmental science and public health.Rising above a Difficult Situation
After surviving a random, drive-by shooting as a young girl, Paloma did not let her trauma or injuries keep her from her dreams of a college education. Instead of becoming bitter, this experience made her realize her desire to help those in need of aid. Before she became involved in the College Dream Team, Paloma says that she and her parents “were unaware of HOW to apply to college.” She learned about perseverance and the hard work necessary to keep good grades to make college possible. Because of this Paloma has become a mentor to younger students at SRHS and encourages them to improve their college essays to explain the difficult situations they have overcome and the impact they have had on their lives. Paloma is pursuing a career in education and public health.Thriving College Student
